COLD HEADING OPERATOR– 1ST SHIFT
EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Full Time
SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday | 6 AM – 2 PM
COMPENSATION: $19 - $20 starting hourly rate (contingent on experience level with room for advancement), Weekly pay.

The Cold Heading Operator is responsible for producing quality parts by safely operating and monitoring cold heading machines while performing in-process and final part inspections to ensure products meet all quality and customer specifications. This role integrates production and the inspection of parts produced to support strong process ownership, reduce scrap, and maintain efficient manufacturing operations.

Safely operate and monitor cold heading machines in accordance with production schedules, job specifications, and quality requirements.
Perform in-process and final visual and dimensional inspections of produced fasteners, including full inspections following tooling changes, heat changes, and machine setups.
Read and interpret blueprints to verify part quality standards.
Perform required in-process, four-hour, Critical Characteristic (CC), and Statistical Process Control (SPC) checks using appropriate measurement equipment.
Verify and monitor machine status (downtime codes) and documentation for accuracy at assigned machines.
Make accurate and complete data entries into the ERP system PLEX.
Perform daily measurement equipment verifications in calibration logs.
Follow the reaction plan for non-conforming or suspect products and initiate Rapid Response Teams when warranted.
Support production flow by rotating between machines, changing hoppers and coils, flash welding and stringing wire, and operating the Hilo to move product when needed.
Participate in all continuous improvement initiatives and duties within the department.
Perform additional duties as directed by the Cold Heading Supervisor and/or Team Lead.

High school diploma or GED.
Basic data entry skills and math skills.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
Strong attention to detail with a quality-focused mindset.
Ability to efficiently multi-task and keep pace with the manufacturing environment.
Ability to follow documented work instructions, quality procedures, and reaction plans.
Willingness to learn, expand skill set, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to communicate production or quality concerns and escalate issues appropriately.
Comfort using ERP systems and electronic documentation (PLEX experience preferred).
Experience using different types of measurement equipment, such as micrometers and calipers.
Experience in a manufacturing setting.
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. regularly and occasionally required to lift and/or move between 50 lbs. – 75 lbs.
Must be able to work on feet for prolonged periods while using tools and perform repetitive actions that entail frequent bending and stooping.
Must abide by the Fastco safety procedures due to the hazards in the manufacturing work environment, including, hearing protection, eye protection, and proper footwear and clothing.
