Engineering Services

Our process kicks off with SOLIDWORKS® for 3D CAD product design engineering and finite element analysis. With these software tools, we kick off the design process that will, ultimately, produce your fastener solution. Our software can design and simulate a wide variety of fasteners. Into this software, our engineers program tooling, material, and travel path. Then the part is run in virtual space. The program provides insight into extrude and upset ratios. The software also provides information regarding what process parameters are exceeded and is used to optimize tooling design to give the most consistent positive results.

Through the use of the deform feature in SOLIDWORKS® to alter shapes of complex surface or solid models, Fastco can work outside of the features constraints involved in creating the models. Deform provides a simple way to change virtually any cold-headed fastener design, whether organic or mechanical, and is useful when creating design concepts or making geometric changes to complex models that would otherwise take too long using traditional sketch, feature, or history editing.

Overall, our customer collaboration from engineering through production can be thought of a blend of listening, creativity, flexibility, and effort.

Fastco Industries bridges the gap between concept and production through advanced CAD product design and simulation. Utilizing SOLIDWORKS, our engineering team performs Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to simulate stress and torque on custom fastener designs before a single tool is cut. This data-driven approach ensures that every cold-headed solution is optimized for performance, reducing lead times and ensuring structural integrity from the start.

Quality Focus

One of the automotive industry’s most widely used international standards for quality management systems (QMS), IATF 16949 is evolving with the publication of a new global industry standard by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF).

As an IATF 16949:2016 certified manufacturer, Fastco adheres to the most rigorous quality management standards in the automotive and industrial sectors. Our commitment to Evidence-Based Decision Making and continuous process improvement allows us to provide custom fasteners that meet globally recognized specifications. By integrating ISO 9001:2015 foundations with IATF extensions, we guarantee a level of precision that minimizes waste and prevents defects in high-volume production.

As an automotive supplier, Fastco understands automotive industry requirements as they relate to PPAP, FMEA, and APQP. Fully trained in problem solving techniques, the Fastco team is ready to provide effective solutions when problems do occur.

The IATF standard differs from other automotive standard, such as ISO 9001:2015. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) focuses on customer satisfaction whereas IATF focuses on customer-specific requirements. To be IATF certified, companies must also implement the ISO 9001 standards. Both are needed to support the automotive QMS. In other words, IATF is an extension of ISO 9001:2015 and the two certificates work in concert to ensure that automotive companies turn out quality parts to customers and have a QMS in place.

Quality is important in every industry. As an IATF 16949 certified company, Fastco is poised to provide your company with superior parts that meet rigorous, globally-recognized standards. We are continuously improving our processes in an effort to reduce waste, decrease variation, prevent defects, and improve operations.

What is IATF 16949?

IATF 16949:2016 (replaces ISO/TS 16949:2009) is a standard that establishes the requirements for a Quality Management System (QMS). ISO/TS 16949, a technical specification for automotive sector quality management systems, has become one of the most widely used international standards in the automotive industry, harmonizing the different assessment and certification systems in the global automotive supply chain.

Guided by the IATF 16949 standard, Fastco Industries is uniquely qualified to provide a wide range of special, high-quality cold-headed products. We welcome the opportunity to manufacture your production cold-head bolts, pins, rivets, studs, or custom parts.
